CEO's Background
Raymond is the Co-founder and Executive Director of People Systems Consultancy Sdn Bhd, a leading social enterprise that was formed in Malaysia back in 2007. He is also the Group Chief Executive Officer for Createtec Sdn Bhd/Createwills Sdn Bhd and Chief Executive Officer for Ideanation Technologies Sdn Bhd.
Raymond started People Systems with a mission and cause to impact, transform and empower communities which suffered from lack of income and livelihood in Malaysia and thereafter ASEAN and other countries in the world.
To achieve this goal, Raymond developed an Entrepreneurial Development programme with a built-in mentoring component to take participants through a structured 6 months programme with a detailed coaching approach to get them out of poverty.
Raymond has extensive experience in consultancy, helping businesses scale and increase revenue. Through the approach and programme pioneered by Raymond, People Systems has trained and transformed the lives of 20,000 people in Malaysia with the following significant results:
-
Achieved 70% success rate with the average income increase per participant is between 100-400%.
-
These average income increases were achieved within a month or two of the programme and sustained thereafter.
-
No loans were given to participants even though People Systems has tie-ups with major banks and micro funding agencies to help participants scale their businesses more after the training programme. This is because Raymond wanted participants to work with their own abilities and passions.
-
Many of the participants were tracked over 2-3 years and were found to have increased their income continuously and sustainably over 2-3 years.
-
This programme is increasingly being looked at as a model programme for community transformation.
-
This programme has been used to bring transformation among marginalized communities such as: the disabled community, the hardcore poor, the orang asli in Malaysia, single mother groups, the hardcore poor in the Indian community, at-risk groups in Sabah and Sarawak, disadvantaged youth groups and other at-risk groups.
-
In 2016, People Systems’ Entrepreneurship programme was chosen to be tested as a solution to the conflict situations in Southern Thailand among the Muslim community affected in the region. The result: 89% success rate with average income increase of 260%.
Under his leadership, People Systems, his training company, has 70 people and has branches in the Philippines, Indonesia, Laos as well as Kuching, Sarawak and joint ventures with business partners in France, South Africa and New Zealand to duplicate the work and the cause there. Raymond continues to champion his cause of raising the income especially those from marginalized groups, through the trainers he has developed and the team that he leads at People Systems to continue the efforts in ASEAN and other countries. The company is full of like-minded people, a young team of mostly millennials regardless of race, religion and nationalities who work for a common cause – eradication of poverty and help to build the livelihood of individuals in need.
Raymond contributed to think-tanks on community transformation with the Prime Ministers Department of Malaysia and with the Economic Planning Unit of Malaysia. He has also been asked to give insights into the 11th Malaysia Plan by the Prime Ministers Department, particularly in the area of Entrepreneurial Development and policy to eradicate poverty and raise the incomes of the marginalized groups for the Indian community in Malaysia.
Raymond also had high-level meetings to brainstorm solutions for programmes to eradicate poverty with the National Anti-Poverty Agency (NAPC) of the Philippines and also TNP2K (the national anti-poverty Agency of the Republic of Indonesia). People Systems is being recognized more and more as a social enterprise with a workable solution to the global problem of poverty.
Raymond was also invited by the ASEAN Secreteriat to the 5th ASEAN Forum on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication in Phnom Penh, which was a platform to discuss the roles of a social enterprise specifically, in sharing best practices, approaches, strategies and build initiatives to promote partnerships in ending poverty in the ASEAN level.
He also customized the Entrepreneurship programme to serve the disabled community in Malaysia and the ASEAN region through a partnership with Maybank Foundation. This programme aptly named R.I.S.E., has become a flagship initiative with Maybank in the region and used extensively to bring transformation and financial inclusion among the people with disabilities in Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Laos. This programme won 3rd Place in the Annual Global CSR Awards in 2016, a global award that recognizes outstanding CSR efforts and projects in the world. Maybank was also shortlisted for the 2019 edie Sustainability Leaders award in London for the work PSC did and also won the JCIM SDG award
Raymond’s other cause is financial literacy and he is the author of the book “Money Quotient - Building Financial Intelligence In your Children”, a book that seeks to educate young adults and children in the area of financial management and literacy to give them a head start in life.
He has also produced TV shows on finance, including TV shows for both CIMB Bank and AKPK (a division of Bank Negara) to promote financial education.
